Konur also suggested that there are numerous misunderstandings about technical SEO, often making it needlessly complicated. He added that unless significant technical problems arise, the emphasis should shift towards producing and enhancing high-quality content.
This conversation stemmed from a brief video posted by the Google Search Central account, which focused on website redirects. Nonetheless, it underscores a wider discussion within the SEO community, which gained momentum following Google’s recent update to its ranking systems documentation.

Google Search Liaison Danny Sullivan provided clarification at that point, stating:
“It does not say page experience is somehow ‘retired’ or that people should ignore things like Core Web Vitals or being mobile-friendly. The opposite. It says if you want to be successful with the core ranking systems of Google Search, consider these and other aspects of page experience.”
Sullivan went on to elaborate on the distinction between ranking “systems” and “signals,” underscoring that the Google update shifted specific page experience elements from the “systems” category to the “signals” category.
This adjustment did not indicate a decrease in the importance of these aspects but rather clarified that they were now considered signals used by other systems.
