Google Pixel 7: Specs, Design and Release Date

Google is already working on the Pixel 7, despite the fact that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro has been available for about half a year. The future phone was formally teased during Google I/O 2022. It will be Google’s answer to the iPhone 14 when it launches at the end of the year. Along with Google’s official announcement, facts regarding the phone have been slowly trickling out over the last few months, giving us a good idea of what to expect. As with any leaks and pre-release information, proceed with caution.

Google Pixel 7 Models

As with previous Pixel phones except the Pixel 5, Google will release at least two models of the Pixel 7. These will be known as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. They will have similar designs, as seen in Google’s released pictures, but the Pro model will most likely have a better display, larger batteries, and an additional camera.

Google Pixel 7 Design

The Google Pixel 7 will inherit most of what Google designed for the Pixel 6. With the exception of minor tweaks to the camera visor or camera bar, it appears to be very similar to the Pixel 6. This means that the visor-like back camera, as well as the centered hole-punch camera at the front, will happily remain design fixtures. The two-tone design on the glass is no longer present, but Google is using the camera bar to give a splash of color this time around.

To gain possession of such a stunning style for a firm that went away from a distinct design with the Pixel 4 and 5, can only be a good thing for brand recognition. The design of the Pixel 6 definitely distinguishes it from other smartphones. Iterating on it entails defining a style. If Google can keep it going, it’ll be a good pick.

Cameras

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are expected to retain the same camera setup and specifications as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. This indicates that the Pixel 6 will have a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, while the Pixel 7 Pro will have a 48-megapixel telephoto lens.

Google has previously done this with the Pixel 3, Pixel 4, and Pixel 5 all wearing the same camera. To be clear, the hardware is excellent, and the photographic experience on both phones is outstanding. The reasons could be the same, with Google focused on making the most of the camera hardware before upgrading to newer models.

Google Pixel 7 Specs

Google is expected to make changes to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Notably, the Pixel 7’s screen size has shrunk to 6.2 inches. The Pixel 7 Pro is rumored to be slightly larger, with a 6.8-inch display.

Inside, the business will continue to avoid Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in favor of its own Tensor chips. Google has confirmed claims of a Tensor 2 processor in the works. While that would undoubtedly be more powerful, power was not an issue for Google’s first Tensor. The company’s modem selection resulted in irregular signal performance, which has a negative effect on the battery, as demonstrated by GSMArena battery testing. Hopefully, the Tensor chip’s second-generation performs better.

The Pixel 7 is scheduled to be unveiled during Google’s annual Made by Google event in October. In terms of cost, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were aggressively priced, allowing Google to acquire market share in the premium sector. It would be better for the corporation to stick with the $700 and $950 starting pricing rather than raise them to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung, both of whom continue to have significant mindshare and ecosystem advantages over Google’s devices.
