The first FPS game was Maze War, which launched in 1973. However, the 1992 game “Wolfenstein 3D” made the FPS genre famous and firmly established FPS. FPS games often feature multiplayer modes, which have different styles of match.

In the late 2010s, FPS games witnessed a surge in popularity with the rise of battle royale games. Many players battle for survival on a large map to be the last man or team, standing through intense, action-packed combat. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBg broke the record of having the highest number of simultaneous players.

Here are some of the top FPS games that have gained a massive fan following over the years:

Fallout

Fallout is a series of role-playing games (RPGs) published by Bethesda Softworks. It is a series of post-apocalyptic games set in the post-22nd Century. However, the artwork and the storyline are influenced by the post-WWII nuclear paranoia of the 1950s.

There are various versions of the game:

Role-Playing Titles: Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.

Squad-based tactical RPG spinoff: Fallout Tactics.
