The Samsung Galaxy S23, one of the most anticipated smartphones for 2023, has yet to be officially announced by Samsung. Fortunately, when it comes to hardware releases, the company follows a consistent and predictable schedule. The exact details and specifications for the S23 are still sketchy at this point, but a few early details are beginning to paint a picture of what to expect.
While we wait for official confirmation and more information on the Galaxy S23, here is a detail of what we know so far.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Models
We anticipate that the Galaxy S23, like the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 families before it, will be available in three variants: the Galaxy S23, the S23+, and the S23 Ultra.
The ‘normal’ S23 should provide the core Galaxy S23 experience in a smaller form factor and at the most affordable price. The S23+ will likely offer a bigger display and battery in exchange for a higher price. Finally, for those looking for the best that Samsung has to offer, the S23 Ultra should be considered.
Of course, all of this assumes Samsung sticks to its usual release schedule. The S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra were introduced in 2021. Then came the S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+, and S22 Ultra in 2022. We have no reason to believe Samsung will change its strategy for 2023, so the S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra all appear to be safe bets for the time being.

Cameras
Despite a general lack of other information, the Galaxy S23’s cameras have made some noise thus far. According to leaker Ice Universe, one of the major rumors is that the smartphone will have a 200-megapixel main camera. While that sounds impressive, it’s worth noting that the S22 was also rumored to have a 200MP lens (which it ultimately did not). The difference this time is that there are several sources corroborating the information, including Korean IT News. Samsung also recently unveiled its latest generation 200MP camera, boasting significant improvements for brighter and more detailed images.
The S23 will have an upgraded 12MP front-facing camera, according to GalaxyClub. Aside from the front camera, GalaxyClub commented on one of the rear cameras, stating that the S23 will have the same 10MP telephoto lens as the S22.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Specs
The only information we have about the Galaxy S23’s hardware specifications is about its processor. Unfortunately, a few sources have provided contradictory information. According to rumors, Samsung is working internally to deliver a Galaxy-exclusive processor with its 2025 flagships, leaving the S23’s chipset in the dark. Business Korea claimed that Samsung would collaborate with MediaTek to provide a processor, most likely the Dimensity 9000 or something similar, but another leaker claimed on Twitter that the collaboration isn’t happening.
Qualcomm has provided processors for previous Samsung devices, so as the company works on its unannounced chipset, it may return to its previous partner for power. If the Qualcomm partnership is maintained, the Galaxy S23 will be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

Samsung Galaxy S23 release date and price
We don’t have a specific release date for the S23 because there hasn’t been any official word from Samsung. However, by looking at previous releases, we can get a sense of what the company has planned for the future.
The Galaxy S22 was released in February 2022, the S21 in January 2021, and the S20 in March 2020. Based on this, it’s safe to assume that the S23 will be released in the first few months of 2023, more specifically in late January or February based on the previous two flagship releases.
The specific date from there is up to Samsung, but we won’t likely hear anything until much closer to that time frame. There’s always the chance that its release could be delayed due to the part shortages and manufacturing problems that have been rampant throughout the industry since the start of the global pandemic. Having said that, Samsung has been consistent with many of its hardware releases since COVID-19 became a widespread issue. Unless another major supply chain issue arises, it appears safe to assume that the S23 will launch on time.

Another detail that is unknown is the price. To put this in context, the Galaxy S22 starts at $799, the S22+ at $999, and the S22 Ultra at $1,199. Samsung may keep those exact prices for the S23 series, but depending on the market and economic conditions, we may see a $50 or $100 price increase per model.
Does the Samsung Galaxy S23 have wireless charging?
A plethora of features can be found in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The phones come with a number of impressive features, including a luminous AMOLED display, cameras with at least 30 times optical zoom, large batteries, and more. Even though Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra has the most cutting-edge capabilities, both the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Plus are still excellent choices. But are wireless charging capabilities included in the Galaxy S23 series?
Although it might appear to be a silly question, it is essential to inquire about it nonetheless. While some phones, like the OnePlus 10T, do not have any capacity for wireless charging at all, others, like those with full wireless charging support, do.
The Galaxy S23 supports wireless charging
Fans of Samsung will be pleased to hear about this positive development. The Samsung Galaxy S23 comes in both wired and wireless charging configurations. You can count on wireless charging to refuel your phone regardless of which model of the S23 you choose to purchase—the S23, the S23 Plus, or the S23 Ultra.
To be more specific, support for “Fast Wireless Charging 2.0” is included with each smartphone purchase. Because of this, the three devices are able to receive a wireless charge of 15 watts from a charger that is compatible with them. It is a little bit odd that Samsung is still calling 15W “rapid,” especially considering that numerous handsets manufactured by Chinese firms, such as the OnePlus 10 Pro, have up to 50W wireless fast charging.
This puts it on par with its main competitor, the iPhone 14, which can also charge wirelessly at a rate of 15W. And considering that the S23 lineup is competing against Apple’s most recent iPhone, there shouldn’t be any issues with sales in the United States market.
Other features of the Galaxy S23’s battery
The Galaxy S23 has a relatively small battery that has 3,900mAh capacity, while the Galaxy S23 Plus has a battery that has 4,700mAh capacity, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a cell that has 5,000mAh capacity. For wired charging, the Plus and Ultra variants of the Galaxy S23 come with support for Super Fast Charging 2.0, while the standard Galaxy S23 comes with support for Super Fast Charging.
The interesting aspect is that despite having a relatively small battery capacity of 3,900 mAh, Samsung equipped the Galaxy S23 with reverse wireless charging, which the company refers to as “Wireless PowerShare.” Both the other Galaxy S23 Plus and Ultra also come with support for reverse wireless charging, allowing you to charge your smartwatch or earbuds while you are on the go. This feature is similar to the one found on the Galaxy S23.
