It is known that some authorities, such as law enforcement, utilize Trojans to monitor the activity of criminals, and reports are spreading concerning the possibility of tracking devices even when they are turned off. However, this has not been validated by any official sources as of yet.
You probably don’t need to worry too much about apps or your cell service provider keeping tabs on your location if you’ve turned off your phone because it would be an extremely difficult task for any regular individual or company to track your location when your phone is turned off, so there’s a good chance you don’t need to worry about it.
Can Android phones be tracked when they are in airplane mode?
It is important to keep in mind that turning off your phone is not the same as activating airplane mode on it. Even though airplane mode blocks a variety of wireless connections, GPS tracking can still be done while the mode is active.
